Braxton was forced to cancel a scheduled performance at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino last night (08.04.08) after doctors kept her in for further tests.

Don Marrandino, president of the hotel where Braxton has been performing five days a week since 2006, said: “We wish Toni a quick recovery and would like her to take the time she needs to regain optimal health. We are looking forward to her return at the end of the week.”

Braxton revealed she suffers from pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart, after being made a spokesperson for the American Heart Association in February.

The 40-year-old star – who also has hypertension, most commonly referred to as high blood pressure – said: “I have heart disease. I found out about four or five years ago. I’ve also been diagnosed with hypertension.

“When I found out I was disappointed. I didn’t get it. But I soon learnt I had to make lifestyle changes. I always ate relatively well, but sometimes I would have pizzas and burgers late at night – I had to change that.”
