The Mission Impossible star is due to pick up his USD72,500 Desmosedici RR motorcycle at the Beverly Hills Ducati dealership this week.
Ducati have produced just 1,500 of the red-and-white Moto GP racing replica bikes – which are made of titanium, magnesium and carbon fibres and can reach speeds of up to 200mph – and Tom will receive the very first one.
Michael Lock, chief of Ducati North America, said: “This bike is the impossible dream — made possible. We are delighted to be able to deliver the world’s first production unit here in the USA to Tom Cruise, who is a well-known Ducati enthusiast.”
Tom has ridden a motorcycle in several of his movies and has previously spoken of his love for biking.
He said: “I love cruising the Pacific Coast Highway. Up north, as you’re driving up to Montecito – that’s the great drive. I like the wonderful off-camber turns. You take it about two, three in the morning. I like the empty road at night, the nice sweeping turns. It can be challenging as well as fun.
“I have an Augusta 109 and a Ducati, and the one I used in M:I-2.”
