The Las Vegas rock band, who performed at the Reading and Leeds festivals last weekend, are dismayed by the huge amounts of rubbish left behind after concerts and want to do something about it.

Bassist Mark Stoermer said: “We’ve discussed our carbon footprint and it is something we are going to think about in the future.

“It’s worrying to see how much waste is left over at gigs and festivals. It does make you think.”

The band plan to go on the road again when they have put the finishing touches to their third album. Mark, 31, added to the Daily Star: “We’re still finishing up the record. I’d say the lyrics are about 80 per cent finished now.”

Singer Brandon Flowers, 27, said: “It’ll be out some time in November and we might be back on tour in November or even October – who knows?”

The band previewed material from the upcoming LP during their headline performances at the UK festivals.
