The British singer – who had spent 10 days in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing promoting his latest album Breathless – was due to return to the UK last Friday (18.01.08) but after switching flights to land in his hometown of Manchester his plane was plagued by problems.

Shayne – who was already dreading the trip home following the crash-landing of a British Airways jet at Heathrow Airport 24 hours earlier – began to panic after the aircraft was checked for an unknown ‘fault’ for three-and-a-half hours.

A source said: “Firstly the plane was moved from gate nine to 13 and then kept on the runway for hours while engineers checked a ‘fault’ before refuelling.”

Although the flight went smoothly, Shayne suffered further misery when his baggage was lost. The No U Hang Up singer had to spend three days in the same clothes while he visited his mother, but luckily his suitcases have now been returned.
