The couple sold a custom-made pool table for $11,250, a pair of Ozzy’s trademark round sunglasses for $5,250 and a mug the Black Sabbath rocker often drank from on MTV show The Osbournes for $1,625.

Pieces of art, furniture and other collectibles were also snapped up by bidders who attended Saturday’s Beverly Hills auction (01.12.07) after travelling from as far away as Germany.

Darren Julien, head of Julien’s Auctions who ran the event, said: ‘For a celebrity garage sale, it was pretty spectacular. We had Ozzy fans bidding against these sophisticated fine art buyers, which you don’t see every day.

‘But for the most part, the ‘metalheads’ and Black Sabbath fans were outbidding the art crowd! The ‘Osbourne factor’ more than doubled the value of some items.’

All proceeds from the auction will go to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Foundation, which mother-of-three Sharon set up after being diagnosed with the disease in 2002.

Meanwhile, X Factor judge Sharon showed her charitable side again by hosting a fundraiser for the Elton John AIDS foundation on Saturday (01.12.07) to mark the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day.

Appearing alongside daughter Kelly on stage at London’s G-A-Y nightclub, Sharon displayed her extensive generosity by throwing a $60,000 ring into the audience.

Sharon’s spokeswoman said: ‘The ring was worth $60,000. It was a spontaneous gesture. Sharon was in a great mood, there was a great crowd and it was a poignant event. Christmas has come early for whoever caught it!’
