The sexy singer – who has been with the band since 2002 when they won British TV talent show Popstars: The Rivals – is predicting the group will come to an end soon and is already searching for a record deal.

A source said: “Sarah has had her eye on her future for a long time. She knows girl bands only have a short shelf-life and that the dream can’t last for ever.

“She has gone to the best in the business to see if they would be interested in masterminding her solo career. She has her heart set on being Britain’s answer to Kylie Minogue.”

However, Sarah has been left disappointed after record label bosses admitted they weren’t sure of her solo potential. The source added: “The response hasn’t been quite what she expected. She thought people would jump at the chance to take her on – but it hasn’t quite worked out like that.”

Girls Aloud are currently going through a period of turmoil. Cheryl Cole has pulled out of all promotional commitments with the other girls following revelations her soccer star husband Ashley cheated on her with several women.

Lead vocalist Nadine Coyle has moved to Los Angeles in a bid to be a Hollywood star, while Nicola Roberts has her own make-up range coming out. Kimberley Walsh has no other projects in the pipeline.
