The Maggie May singer, who already has a 22-month-old son, Alastair, with the 36-year-old model, revealed his desire to expand their family in a romantic Valentine’s Day card.

Penny – who wed the 62-year-old rocker in June – told First magazine: “Rod wrote in my Valentine’s card this year, ‘Let’s make baby number two.’

“And now it’s definitely the right time.”

Penny recently revealed she would like Alastair to have a baby sister.

She said: “We will be trying for another as soon as we can fit it in – we are ready now! We’d both love one in another year. A little girl would be wonderful as it would be a little playmate for Alastair. We’ll be happy to stop at that.”

Meanwhile, Rod – who has five other children from three previous relationships – has been spotted wearing his CBE medal while enjoying a late breakfast in California.

The You Wear it Well singer, who was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire earlier this year, teamed the prestigious honour with a striped jumper and light blue jeans.

An onlooker at the cafe, where he was joined by Penny and eldest son Sean, said: “He’s obviously very proud of it but it did look a little strange!”
