The track, entitled Harry Patch (In Memory Of) can be bought on the band’s own website, radiohead.com, for £1.

Patch passed away in July this year, aged 111, the last of the British army veteran’s of the Great War.

The only other allied veteran of the senseless slaughter is Claude Choules, 108, who served in the navy and now lives in Australia.

“I had heard a very emotional interview with [Harry Patch] a few years ago on the Today programme on Radio 4,” said Radiohead singer Thom Yorke.

“The way he talked about war had a profound effect on me.”
