The troubled rocker – who is currently receiving treatment for drug addiction in the Clouds centre in Wiltshire, UK – has put out a card assuring well-wishers he is on the road to recovery. He wrote: “31 days clean and counting.”

Friends of the Babyshambles frontman – who will leave rehab next month – have also revealed he plans to move to the countryside to avoid the temptations of London.

One told The Sun: “Pete really wants to make a go of being clean. No one has seen him this healthy in a very long time – or this determined to stay that way.”

Pals say Pete – who has a four-year-old son, Astile, with ex-lover Lisa Moorish – fell in love with the country while he was dating ex-girlfriend Kate Moss, who has a home in the Cotswolds.

One added: “He loved going away to Kate’s place in the country.

“She was looking at buying him a place to escape to. But then they split up and he was left living under a motorway flyover. He needs to be outside London so he can concentrate on his songwriting and being a better dad to his son Astile.”

Meanwhile, Pete has been reunited with his father during his stay in rehab. His father had previously severed all ties with his son saying he wouldn’t speak to him until he got himself clean.

The singer’s manager, Andy Boyd, said: “He has realised the importance of things in his life.

“He wants to be a father to his son – and a son to his father. He sees a future without drugs.”
