The American Idol judge is reportedly set to sing her new single, produced by fellow judge Randy Jackson, at the annual American Football extravaganza in Arizona on February 3.

A source said: “It’s not clear whether she will perform before the game or at half-time, but word is she will sing a new song that is slated as the first single on fellow Randy’s new album, Music Club Vol. 1 which is a duet with him.

“It’s going to be a very American Idol game this year with the latest Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, singing the national anthem before kick-off and show host Ryan Seacrest acting as master of ceremonies.”

However, Super Bowl insiders claim 45-year-old Paula’s rehearsals are not going well. The source told gossip website tmz.com: “It’s going to be a massive disaster. The whole thing is a bad, bad idea. Paula has already lost her voice in rehearsals for the show, so she isn’t going to sing live, her vocals are going to be enhanced on the night.”

Insiders added they felt the former 80s pop star would be better off performing her old hits such as Straight Up or Cold Hearted Snake, instead of Randy’s new single.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are to headline this year’s musical interlude, while Mary J. Blige and Maroon 5 will perform at the Super Bowl concerts leading up to the game. Previous Super Bowl headline acts have included Prince and the infamous duet between Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake, during which Justin tore open Janet’s top to reveal her pierced nipple.
