The rockers released latest effort Dig Out Your Soul earlier this month but the guitarist says work is already underway on the follow-up.

Noel revealed the record will sound like Lola singers The Kinks and described two of the tracks as “psychedelic operas”.

He told Billboard magazine: “They all seem to be based around the same four or five chords. It’s vastly different from Dig Out Your Soul.

“There’s stuff about soldiers and religious people and rock stars and travellers. They seem to be all songs about people, but not people I know. And they all seem to have a narrative – it’s kind of like a story which follows on from song to song.”

The musician – who revealed two tracks for the album will be called I Want to Live in a Dream In My Record Machine and Come On It’s Alright – also says he hopes to start work on his solo album soon.

He added: “I’m going to do one sooner or later – hopefully sooner rather than later.”
