The Oasis star – who made the most of the free bar in his VIP suite at London’s O2 arena on Monday (10.12.07) – is “devastated” he can’t recall the half-hour backstage conversation he had with Page, 63, following the legendary band’s blistering comeback performance.

A source told The Sun: “Noel was really looking forward to exchanging notes with Jimmy, but he had overdone it on the beer.

“He woke up the next morning after the show and realised he couldn’t remember anything about their chat. He was devastated.”

Noel, 40, was among a host of stars who watched Led Zeppelin – Jimmy, singer Robert Plant, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham, who replaced his late father John Bonham – headline the tribute show to the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, who signed the group in 1968.

Other celebrities in the audience included Noel’s brother and Oasis bandmate Liam, Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, supermodel Kate Moss, Lisa Marie Presley and Rolling Stones rocker Sir Mick Jagger.
