Nicole Richie has become a mother for the first time after giving birth to a baby girl.

The Simple Life star, who is engaged to Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, delivered the tot – who weighed 6lbs 7oz – on Friday (11.01.08) at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai hospital.
The couple have named their new arrival Harlow Winter Kate Madden.
After the birth, which was believed to be natural, proud dad Joel said: “We are very blessed she’s healthy and beautiful and so good already. We are very happy.”
The couple are set to marry later this year.
Nicole’s adoptive father Lionel Richie was seen visiting the hospital before the birth as was Joel’s bandmate and brother Benji.
Nicole has previously battled drink and drink addictions but said falling pregnant saved her life. The 26-year-old star – who spent a brief spell in prison during her pregnancy for driving related offences – said: “I owe this baby everything and I have a responsibility now.
“Besides being responsible for myself, I’m now responsible for someone else. And I have to set the right examples. I have to really be someone that I would want my child to look up to.”
