The Golden Compass star – who has two adopted children, Isabella, 14, and Connor 12, with her ex-husband Tom Cruise – is looking forward to being reunited with her kids for the festive period.

Nicole, 40, said: ‘I’m going to spend Christmas with my family. It’s going to be a family occasion.’

The Australian actress and her country singer husband Keith Urban have a home in Sydney and a ranch in Nashville, but Nicole is unsure where they will be for the holiday.

Tom Cruise and his new wife Katie Holmes live in Los Angeles with their 19-month-old daughter Suri and as Scientologists do not celebrate the Christian holiday. Nicole is a Catholic.

The blonde actress was speaking at the London premiere of new movie The Golden Compass last night (27.11.07), and revealed she was delighted to be back in the UK.

She added to BANG Showbiz: ‘It’s lovely to be here. I’ve been in Australia working on Baz Luhrman’s new film for the last nine months. I’ve been in the desert and riding horses, so it’s great to come here and be around a little sophistication.’

Other celebrities at the premiere included Nicole’s co-stars 13-year-old Dakota Blue Richards, Daniel Craig, Eva Green and Sam Elliott.

Author Philip Pullman – whose book Northern Lights, which is part of the His Dark Materials trilogy, is the basis of the film – also attended.
