MICHAEL JACKSON is heading for the charts again with today’s release of the This Is It single.

Jackson songs tend to fall into one of two camps, the uptempo dance track, or the slow, sugary ballad. This Is It is firmly in ballad territory.

“This is it, here I stand, I’m the light of the world, I feel grand,” sings Jacko, those last few words evidence of the King of Pop’s hitherto unknown ear for the north of England dialect as well as a poignant rest-in-peace sentiment which might help still-grieving fans.

The song was apparently written in 1991 for the Dangerous album, but was left on the shelf until preparations for the concerts planned for the O2 this year started, plans that were shattered in June when Jackson met his untimely death.

Publicists took a liking to the title and badged the whole comeback This Is It, which is still the name for the upcoming album and movie of the rehearsals, due out on 27 October. The other Jackson event in town is the Official Exhibition, held at the O2.
