MAMMA MIA! the movie has broken the record for taking the most cash at the British box office.

The film, based on a stage show featuring Abba songs, was panned by critics, but loved by fans and has now raked in £69m, helping it sail past Titanic, which has held the record for the past decade.
“This film has exceeded our expectations and delighted audiences around the world since it opened in July,” said David Kosse, head of UPI, the company which backed Mamma Mia.
Last week Meryl Streep was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in Mamma Mia! and the film was also put up for best film in the musical or comedy category.
