LILY ALLEN is in trouble again after labelling the Catholic Church ‘cruel’.

Yesterday the Smile singer caused apoplexy among the nation’s great and good by calling for a more relaxed attitude to cocaine and today she continues her libertine manifesto by questioning the relevance of the One True Faith.

“I was brought up in a Catholic school and they told me gays were bad, adultery was bad and drugs were bad,” she said.

“At the same time, all my mum’s friends were gay, my dad was having various affairs and there were drugs in the house when I was a kid – so it was a bit cruel.”

Before all the protestants breathe a sigh of relief, it’s not only the Roman church Allen has problems with.

“I don’t like Christianity much,” she said. “Why is Songs Of Praise always Christian?”

Like the rock stars of the 60s, Allen sees eastern religion as the way forward. “Hinduism is cool. I’ll put them up near the top,” she said.
