LILY ALLEN turned up as a singing Queen Victoria at a free fancy-dress gig in Notting Hill last night.

The Smile singer struggled to strut her stuff in the tight-fitting 19th century garb – “”I’ve never sung in a corset, its quite hard,” she said – but sacrifices had to be made to fit in with the Tube system dress-code, Allen’s effort being a tribute to Victoria station.

In the audience at the Tabernacle pub, there was someone sporting tennis clobber to symbolise Wimbledon, another fan in an Elephant mask wearing a cardboard-box Castle and a pun-meister who came as a rabbit in reference to Warren Street.

As an added bonus for Allen, her ex-boyfriend Ed Simmons was there, too.

Allen reeled off 18 songs for the crowd, who were all there for free courtesy of MySpace, which also hosted recent gigs for the singer in New York and Tokyo. The bulk of the play-list came from Allen’s second album, It’s Not Me It’s You, also likely to be the mainstay of her upcoming concerts.
