Denise Platt, her husband Greg and their two children Audrey and Brian are residents of Oak Street – a nondescript slice of American suburban where nothing remarkable happens. Until a bizarre phenomena transports their cosy neighbourhood to someplace unknown where denizens are large, carnivorous and partial to human flesh. The Platts must stick together in adversity to navigate their unrecognisable surroundings and perhaps find a way back home.

Sisters Agnes, Luke and Mary Clare are the “last of the dinosaurs” at their ramshackle convent in 1974 New Zealand. They diligently tended to a dwindling flock and each other, especially Sister Luke who is in the tightening grip of dementia. Mischievous 10-year-old Brian overhears Father Findlay colluding with Bishop Chaytor to sell off the convent land. Once the sisters learn about the priest’s underhand scheme, they embark on a mercy mission to South Island to recover the convent deeds.

In the summer of 1975, 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain boasts to his parents and younger brother that he will be the proud recipient of a residential summer writing scholarship. When the scholarship committee fails to recognise his immeasurable talents, Tony steals money from his parents to finance an impromptu trip to Provincetown to chase after a girl called Nancy. There, he finds work washing dishes in a seafood restaurant and nurtures a passion for cooking from the resident chef.

Bristol-based Aardman Animations continue their 50th anniversary celebrations by rereleasing their 2012 stop-motion comedy. The Pirate Captain is the leader of a ragtag group of sea dogs, whose enthusiasm far exceeds their ability to plunder booty. To prove the naysayers wrong, the crew sets out to win the coveted Pirate Of The Year award.
