The American Woman singer – who has reportedly been suffering from a respiratory tract infection since mid-January – was taken to the emergency room at Miami’s Mount Sinai Hospital yesterday.

A spokesperson for the 43-year-old star said: “Due to extreme dehydration and fatigue doctors were unable to control his condition with outpatient treatment and advised him to check into hospital.

“Lenny was taken to an emergency room at Mount Sinai Hospital for immediate treatment.”

Kravitz’s condition has forced him to postpone a trip to Europe, where he was due to promote his new album It Is Time For a Love Revolution, released last week.

Earlier this month, it was revealed Kravitz almost quit the music business to become a farmer in Brazil. He said: “I spent four months on a farm in Brazil. I was surrounded by nature and it was beautiful. I lived completely within the means of that farm.

“I thought, ‘You know what, I could stay here and be a farmer. I could grow fruit and vegetables.'”
