Kate Hudson claims ego and pride prevent people enjoying friendships with their former partners.

The Fool’s Gold actress says she has remained on good terms with her ex husband Chris Robinson – with whom she has a four-year-old son, Ryder – and claims only people’s injured pride is what usually stops them from getting along with their old flames.
She said: “It’s such a shame when people let their egos get in the way of what’s the most important thing. I feel like a lot of time someone’s pride is affected when a relationship ends.”
The 29-year-old actress added that Ryder has always been her and Chris’ main priority, which was one of the reasons they decided to call an end to their five year-marriage in 2006.
She added to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: “We did it the right way, which is we knew it wasn’t right to stay together so we wanted it to be great for Ryder and we got a happy, happy boy.
“We spend a lot of time together. We love our baby. With both of us working all the time and away and travelling it makes it great for Ryder.”
