Jodie Kidd has been dropped by her London-based model agency after her weight gain caused her to lose several important contracts.

The 29-year-old beauty was reportedly eating calorific treats, which led to her piling on the pounds.

A source said: “She wasn’t looking after herself and piled on weight by eating junk food. It was proving hard to get her any work at all.”

The blonde beauty – who was represented by Independent for most of her career – lost a £250,000 Marks and Spencer contract after allegedly being caught selling cocaine to an undercover reporter last year.

However, while Jodie’s model rival Kate Moss managed to turn her career around following a similar drug-related scandal in 2005, Jodie has been less fortunate.

The source added: “Jodie was a bit arrogant and thought a drugs scandal would be as beneficial for her as it was for Kate Moss. But the fact is that Jodie isn’t in the same league as Kate.”

Independent confirmed: “We’re not representing Jodie any more. She is not modelling at the moment and wants to do more TV presenting.”

Jodie’s attempts to get into presenting have so far proved unsuccessful. In May, she lost a contract with Channel 4 to present the Red Bull Air Race and was replaced by former Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq.
