The former model – who appeared on several UK and US TV shows last week where she blamed estranged husband Sir Paul McCartney for the breakdown of their marriage, branded Paul’s daughter Stella “evil” and likened herself to the late Princess Diana – revealed she is thrilled with the support she has received this week.

She told UK TV show GMTV this morning (08.11.07): “Speaking out was the difference between being in prison and being on parole. I got the chance to defend myself. It was unbelievably cathartic.

“I’ve had 18 months of the worst press ever and I got the chance to protect myself and my daughter. I stayed quiet for a year and it didn’t work, I had 4,000 articles written about me.

“I have had so much support. A little girl came up to me and said, ‘You made me cry last week.'”

When asked if Paul had tried to stop her from talking about their failed marriage, Heather replied: “I can’t go into whether he has tried to gag me.

“The reason we are not divorced is because, basically, I am not meant to talk.

“I am not going to speak about Paul any more. All I have done is respond to question put to me that were complete lies.”

The 39-year-old vegan insisted she and The Beatles legend are “very civil” to each other for the sake of their four-year-old daughter Beatrice.

She also dismissed reports she was unhappy after seeing photographs of the musician kissing married millionairess Nancy Shevell last weekend.

Heather said: “Basically I just said, ‘I wish you all the best’ and that was it. It’s none of anybody’s business what happens in Paul’s love life.”

Heather claimed “thousands of people” have signed her petition – which she plans to take to the European Parliament to strengthen laws against a “specific portion” of the media – on the youcare.com website.
