Gerard, who came sixth place in the poll – which was topped by former Saved by the Bell star Mario Lopez – has won female fans worldwide through his performances in films including 300 and P.S. I Love You, but admits he hasn’t always been that successful with women.

He said: “A few years ago, I went out with a girl and we were having a great time. She went to the toilet, and I thought, ‘You know what? I’m also going to go to the toilet.’ Maybe it took me a little longer to get out of there than I thought.

“I came back and she was gone. So I said to the waiter, ‘What happened?’ The waiter said, ‘She came out and stood around the table and then she left.’ I ran outside and she was nowhere to be seen. I never saw her again!”

Other entrants on the list include Iron Man actor Terrence Howard, Britney Spears’ older brother Bryan, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and Hunter Johansson – who is three minutes younger than Scarlett.

Hunter revealed having Hollywood beauty Scarlett as a sister has helped him on the girlfriend front, adding: “Scarlett tells me how girls think. When I’m stuck, I call. She’s set me up on dates. It wasn’t with anybody famous. It was with some school friends – all very beautiful, wonderful girls.”
