GEORGE MICHAEL is out of prison, released four weeks into his eight-week sentence for driving under the influence of drugs.

Sources close the star say he is planning a party to celebrate his freedom.

“George told Kenny [Goss, Michael’s partner] what he wants – and who he wants there,” said one source.

Most of the former Wham! singer’s time inside was spent at Highpoint, an open prison in Suffolk, though he was also banged up in Pentonville, north London before being transferred.

During his incarceration, Michael received the backing of fellow popstar ex-jailbirds Sir Paul McCartney and Boy George, who sent messages of support.

Some press reports suggested the singer suffered a campaign of intimidation from hardened lags, but Michael denied those rumours.

“There have been no tears, no anxiety, no bullying, in fact not so much as a sleepless night for me,” he said.

“As far as I can tell, have received no special treatment of any kind whatsoever, unless, of course, some of the guys here are letting me win at the pool table.”

Michael was sent down after a cannabis-fuelled incident in July, in which he was discovered by police in Hampstead, slumped over the wheel of his Range Rover, which had careered into a Snappy Snaps photo-print shop.
