EDDIE IZZARD has announced plans to become an MP.

The comedian and actor revealed his political ambitions yesterday, after finishing 43 marathons in just 52 days.
He was due to meet PM Gordon Brown at 10 Downing Street today, but hopes that Izzard will brighten up next year’s General Election have been dashed as he sees entering Westminster as more, um, marathon than sprint.
“I will stand as an MP or MEP at some stage… in 10 to 15 years,” he said.
“I like to make long announcements. But at the moment, I’ve spent so long trying to get my career going, I don’t want to throw it away.”
Izzard raised over £200,000 for the Sports Relief charity during the 1,100-mile marathon effort and, along with Brown, will meet foreign secretary David Miliband for a deserved round of congratulations.
