The wife of Prince William stood in for her father-in law Prince Charles at the private dinner when he was called away to Saudi Arabia, and a spokesperson for St James’ Palace confirmed the scar was a result of a childhood surgery.
The representative told MailOnline: “The scar related to a childhood operation.”
Although it was confirmed to be a serious operation, John Scurr – consultant surgeon at the Lister Hospital in London – said it could be a birthmark removal.
He revealed: “I really doubt it was any serious medical condition and I would say it is as a result of an arteriovenous malformation – a birthmark – being removed. It is remarkable, given the measurement, that no-one has noticed before.”
However, Catherine is not alone in having a scar on her head – her husband William also has a mark, which he has dubbed his Harry Potter scar, from when he was hit with a golf club at the age of 13.
