The former Baywatch actor – who is believed to have entered rehab for alcoholism in 2001, 2002 and 2004 – is struggling to deal with his addiction and is seeking help.

Hasselhoff’s representative Judy Katz said yesterday (09.10.07): “David had a brief relapse and immediately recognized the importance of addressing it with the assistance of his doctors. He is doing fine and will be back home in the morning.”

Relapse reports surfaced after he was recently seen checking into Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for a detox progamme.

A source said: “He looked awful when they brought him in. His colour was ashen. He felt sick. It was just so sad.”

In May, the 55-year-old actor was filmed by his daughter Taylor-Ann rolling around shirtless on a hotel room drunkenly trying to eat a hamburger.

Taylor-Ann was heard pleading on the tape with her father to stop drinking once and for all.

Hasselhoff said after the incident: “I am a recovering alcoholic. I have been dealing with my issue. Unfortunately, I did have a brief relapse, but part of recovery is relapse.”

In June, Hasselhoff was awarded primary custody of his daughters, 17-year-old Taylor-Ann and 15-year-old Hayley, with ex-wife Pamela Bach.

Hasselhoff and Bach are due to attend a mediation hearing tomorrow (11.10.07) and will be told if the actor’s relapse will affect their existing custody arrangement.

Bach claims the star’s alcoholism slowly destroyed their 16-year marriage.

She said: “He has been through three rehabs – in 2001, 2002, and 2004. He has been to the emergency room at least 12 to 13 times at Cedars-Sinai, under aliases, for alcohol poisoning. His disease is very extreme. Over
time, the disease eroded the relationship.”
