Opened in 1996, this working reconstruction of the Globe Theatre is the legacy of filmmaker Sam Wannamaker.
For planning reasons it was not built on its original site, but instead it is on the South Bank of the River Thames adjacent to the Tate Modern (formerly Bankside powerstation). The open air theatre runs from spring to autumn.
