The Beatles legend, who is currently embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with estranged wife Heather Mills, is set to spend four days of the festive period with four-year-old Beatrice and close family – but has told Heather to stay away.
A source said: ‘Paul is thrilled he has got Beatrice on Christmas Day. He is keeping Heather away as he fears she will make a scene. And he is adamant there will be no angry rows for his daughter’s sake.’
Heather, 39, reportedly suggested they spend Christmas Day together as a family at Paul’s Peasmarsh estate, despite viciously attacking the 65-year-old musician in a series of TV interviews last month.
However, Paul has insisted on having a low-key holiday – as this year marks the 10th anniversary of the last Christmas he spent with his late wife Linda.
Meanwhile, Paul – who is rumoured to be dating actress Patricia Arquette – has revealed he refuses to use his divorce heartbreak to write depressing songs.
He said: ‘The whole divorce has brought me to a low point generally and the situation isn’t madly great. Patience is required. It is happening and I’m working through the process.
‘But some people, when they are going through periods of angst, get anxious songs that come out of it. What I notice is that I tend to do hopeful songs.
‘It is just my method. So I don’t know whether the divorce will ever actually translate into a song. It might do but I’m not so good at angst-ridden songs. My natural optimism tends to take over.
‘Even if I’ve got an anxious first verse, the next verse might be, Well, but never mind because it’s going to be all right. I’ve got to get up each day and live my life.’
