As Berlin swelters in the summer sunshine, teenager Nora is left to her own devices in the absence of her alcoholic mother. She chooses to hang out with her older sister Jule and her best friend Aylin, who introduce Nora to alcohol and cigarettes. During lessons at school, Nora gets her first period in front of classmates. Jule doesn't rush to her aid. Instead, older student Romy kindly intervenes and a friendship blossoms into the rare blooms of adolescent love.
