One of the UK's best loved companies, Birmingham Royal Ballet returns with a triple bill featuring three short works on the theme of war. The triple bill opens with Kenneth MacMillan's La Fin du Jour, capturing the glamorous lifestyle of the 1930s wealthy, using Maurice Ravel's score to create an elegy to a lifestyle lost to World War II . Miracle in the Gorbals has been specially re-created for the Company by Dame Gillian Lynne, from Robert Helpmann's original work set in the 1940's Glasgow and danced to the music by Sir Arthur Bliss. The programme closes with David Bintley's Flowers of the Forest; with music by Malcom Arnold and Benjamin Britten, It contrasts picture- postcard Scotland with it's own bloody history.
