Frank and Jerry Lee Flannigan work odd jobs across the Sierra Nevadan frontier, which take them from one motel to the next. They toil hard and drink harder, until Jerry Lee is involved in a hit and run accident. In fear, the brothers flee across the state and seek refuge with Frank’s old flame, Annie. The fugitives feel certain they are safe from the long arm of the law but Jerry Lee’s guilt continues to gnaw at him and nudges him to the brink of an emotional meltdown.
