A nameless man, M, arrives in Helsinki, only to be brutally beaten and mugged, then left for dead. He regains consciousness in hospital several days later suffering from acute amnesia, with no memory of his past or even his identity. M discharges himself from hospital and begins anew by living with the city’s homeless and promptly falls in love with feisty Salvation Army worker Irma. Their romance flourishes, but how can they have a future together when M can’t even remember his past?
