The 19-year-old royal, who will begin a history degree at London’s Goldsmiths College in September, has been househunting in Belgravia – one of London’s most exclusive areas.

Last week, Beatrice looked at a four-bedroom, four-bathroom property on a street that has been home to many top British politicians.

A source told the Mail on Sunday: “Beatrice has been looking at properties around Central and South-West London. The search has been going on for months.

“I think it’s unlikely she’s going to be spending anything like UKP4.25 million. I’d have thought UKP1 million is more likely.”

Beatrice is believed to have told estate agents she is buying alone and isn’t moving in with her mother, the Duchess of York.

The source added: “Her mother is taking a keen interest but nothing more than that. They get on very well but are not about to move in together.”

Beatrice – who is fifth in line to the throne – is a beneficiary of a trust fund worth a reported UKP2.5 million set up by the late Queen Mother.

She was granted access to her share after turning 18 in 2006.
