Sasha harks from an aristocratic family, which is bound by tradition. Her destiny seems fixed but Sasha has an explorer’s spirit like her grandfather Oloukine, who has recently embarked on a grand expedition to conquer the North Pole. There has been no news from Oloukine and the Russian court believes he has died in the frozen north. Sasha is convinced that Oloukine is alive and well so she defies the edicts of her parents to head to the Arctic Circle on her own journey of self-discovery.
