Harrowing Holocaust drama based on the acclaimed 1975 book by Imre Kertesz, chronicling the terrible cruelty inflicted on Hungarian Jews deported to the labour camps, as seen through the eyes of a terrified 14-year-old boy. When the Nazis invade Hungary in 1944, teenager Gyuri Koves is wrenched from the bosom of his wealthy Jewish family and sent to the infamous labour camps, where he witnesses unspeakable brutality and barbarism. The colour literally drains from Gyuri’s world as he struggles to cling onto his humanity in a godforsaken place where there is none.
