Businessman Tomas, his wife Ebba and their two children, Vera and Harry, head for a luxury resort in the French Alps. On the second day, there is a controlled avalanche and a deluge of fast-moving snow heads straight for the resort while Tomas, Ebba and the kids are enjoying lunch. As the avalanche hits, Ebba instinctively protects Vera and Harry while Tomas panics and runs for cover. This moment of selfishness and cowardice has a profound effect on the family.
