Fifteen-year-old Jack lives in a rural town without the controlling influence of his father, who abandoned the family. His mother Karen leaves him to his own devices so she is no help when it comes to Jack dealing with cruel older bully Shane. When his aunt falls ill, younger cousin Ben comes to stay and Jack reluctantly takes on the role of the boy’s guardian. Faced with myriad challenges, Jack must find courage and hope in the most desolate circumstances.
