Tatum O’Neal has been arrested on drugs charges.

The 44-year-old actress was arrested for buying crack cocaine and powder cocaine a few blocks from her apartment in New York on Sunday (01.06.08).
Tatum tried to pass off the incident, saying she was doing the deals as “research” for a part in a film.
She reportedly said: “You know who I am, right? I’m researching a part – I’m doing this for a part as a junkie.”
Officers arrested Tatum – whose parents are actor Ryan O’Neal and Joanna Cook Moore – and suspected drug dealer Alan Garcia and charged her with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Upon her arrest, Tatum is believed to have pleaded with police, saying: “Can’t we just forget about this?”
Tatum most recently appeared in US TV series Rescue Me. She is also the youngest person ever to be awarded an Oscar aged just 10, for her performance in 1973 film Paper Moon.
After her marriage to tennis star John McEnroe ended in 1992, Tatum’s problems with drugs spiralled out of control. She has since lost custody of her three children, Kevin, Sean and Emily, from her six-year marriage to McEnroe.
