Prince William and Duchess Catherine are to holiday in Mustique this winter.

The royal couple – who were recently left “saddened” after topless pictures of Catherine were published in a French magazine – are believed to have chosen the Caribbean hideaway as their destination because photographers are banned from the island.

One royal insider said: “It’s the one place in the world they can be guaranteed privacy. Everyone staying there will keep their discretion.

“They’ll finally be able to relax and enjoy a holiday without worrying about being snapped.”

The island – which is a popular holiday destination for Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger and supermodel Kate Moss – is known for its isolation. It also has royal connections ever since Princess Margaret built a house there in the 1960s and hosted wild sex and drugs parties.

It’s not the first time Will and Kate have been to Mustique – which has just 100 villas, a 17-room hotel and a five-bedroom guesthouse on its 1,400 acres – as they were there earlier this year.

The Duke of Cambridge flew out to the island to join Catherine – who was known as Kate Middleton prior to the couple’s nuptials last year – on holiday with her family, including sister Pippa Middleton, in January for the duchess’ belated 30th birthday celebrations.

The group were thought to have been staying at the stunning villa owned by the Middletons’ family friend Mark Cecil.
