The X Factor boss, or to be more exact Simon Cowell: The Unauthorised Biography by Chas Newkey-Burden, comes out top of a survey by Travelodge to find the book most commonly left behind by guests.

“It’s no surprise that Simon Cowell’s biography has topped our 2010 books left behind index, as the nation is fascinated by this music mogul, TV producer and entrepreneur,” said Travelodge’s Shakila Ahmed.

Cowell’s colleagues on Britain’s Got Talent, Ant and Dec, are next on the left-behind list with their self-penned book Ooh! What a Lovely Pair.

Among the celeb biogs and thrillers, it’s a bit of a shock to find government minister Vince Cable with The Storm: The World Economic Crisis and What it Means, but Travelodge provide a clue to help explain his bronze medal spot. The hotel chain say four out of ten adults read in bed in order to get to sleep.
