SIMON COWELL is on for a knighthood when the Queen comes up with her Birthday Honours list next month.
Most famous for his X Factor exploits, the media mogul is also admired in government circles for his charity work and it this that is thought to have swung it for Cowell.
"Simon has always joked he'd be last in line for a knighthood," a source told The Mirror.
"But, deep down, it's his dream."
Surprisingly, it was outgoing Prime Minister Gordon Brown who made the case for the Britain's Got Talent judge, despite Cowell endorsing David Cameron in the recent election.
"Gordon Brown was particularly impressed by the way Simon responded to his suggestion to release the record for Haiti by dropping everything to ensure it was a success," said the source.
Simon deserves the honour because he does so much work behind the scenes for charity and publicly supports good causes."
The Queen's Birthday Honours will be published on 12 June.
Nighthood- What a joke, if he gets it. I can think of many more deserving people before him. I hope sense prevails and he does not get one. His head will get even bigger if it happens.
You my friend are a joke! Of course the man deserves it. He does endless work for charity and although I do not know the man personally I can tell you he is a very nice man.
