Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Works by Wagner, Debussy, Ravel and Scriabin.

Vasily Petrenko conducts Wagner's Overture, Der Fliegende Hollander, Debussy's La Mer, Ravel's Piano Concerto In G and Scriabin's Le Poeme De L'extase, Symphony No 4, with pianist George Li.

Intoxicating colours paint inspired works of beauty by Scriabin, Ravel, Debussy and Wagner, in this Royal Philharmonic Orchestra concert. Vasily Petrenko continues the orchestra's 2019/20 season with a series of exquisite musical portraits. Wagner's Flying Dutchman Overture complements Debussy's La Mer, which creates a seascape drawn from powerful childhood memories. Suspended strings create a serene stillness in which the woodwind provides the colour, and rising waves of brass bring the picture to life. read more Performers Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Vasily Petrenko conductor George Li piano Repertoire Wagner: Overture, Der fliegende Hollander Debussy: La mer Interval Ravel: Piano Concerto in G Scriabin: Le poeme de l'extase, Op.54 (Symphony No.4)
