Opened by King George VI in 1937, the museum is dedicated to enriching our knowledge of Britain at sea with over 1,100 objects displayed in four immersive galleries including the actual uniform worn by Admiral Nelson when he was fatally wounded and JMW Turner's largest painting, The Battle Of Trafalgar, 21 October 1805. Special exhibitions carry additional charges but admission to most treasures is free.
