Royal Ballet resident choreographer Wayne McGregor creates his first full-evening ballet, inspired by the works of Virginia Woolf. Throughout her fiction, Woolf searched for forms that defied the false order of traditional narrative conventions and enabled her to depict reality as she perceived it.: heightened, startling and poignant – the experience of beings at once both physical body and uncontained essence. In this new full – length work, McGregor recreates the synaesthetic collision of form and substance at play in Woolf’s novels, bringing to life her world of ‘granite and rainbow’.
