Available on DVD on 9th January 2012

Bring the world of the tiny borrowers into your living room with the 21st Century adaptation of Mary Norton’s classic novels The Borrowers, released on DVD from 9th January 2012 courtesy of Universal Playback.

Stephen Fry (Jeeves & Wooster, QI) and Victoria Wood (Dinner Ladies, Housewife 49) revel in their roles as adults, determined to reveal the four inch high borrowers’ identity to the world. Borrower Arrietty (Aisling Loftus – Page Eight, Case Histories) is desperate to discover life outside her family home. When she sneaks out one night and befriends James (Charlie Hiscock), a lonely boy who lives upstairs with his father, Robert Millman, played by Shaun Dooley (Exile, South Riding), she sparks off a series of problems leading to the discovery of her family home.

Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) and Sharon Horgan (Free Agents, Pulling) star as Pod and Homily Clock, parents to rebellious daughter, Arrietty. Written by Ben Vanstone (Merlin, EastEnders), the 90 minute film follows the series of adventures the Borrowers go on, and their attempts to outsmart the adults in a bid to return the Clock family back to their home before Christmas.

The Borrowers books were first adapted for television in the early ’90s as acclaimed Sunday teatime series, but Vanstone‘s contemporary version of this classic tale, will be part of a special Christmas this year, and will be sure to enchant and capture a new audience when it’s released on DVD.
