Queen Elizabeth has sparked a headwear fashion trend.

Earlier this year, the 82-year-old royal shunned the tradition of wearing a hat to a wedding, in favour of a fascinator – inspiring thousands of other women in the country to copy her style.
UK department store Debenhams enjoyed an 82 per cent surge in sale of the accessory since the monarch sported a lilac feather fascinator to the wedding of her grandson Peter Philips in May.
Lynne Heaton, Debenhams merchandiser, said: “Seeing the queen break with tradition by choosing a fascinator rather than a traditional hat on such as public occasion has given the style an unofficial royal blessing.
“Stuffy organisations who would once have frowned upon fascinators as improper headwear for respectable women can no longer complain. If it’s good enough for her majesty, then it is good enough for everyone.
“Sales have rocketed as a result, and fascinators are now one of our fastest selling lines in Debenhams. There’s a direct correlation between demand rising and the date of the royal wedding.”
The striking accessory – which is usually made from flowers, feathers and beads – has also become more popular at events such as the Royal Ascot Races and The Grand National.
This isn’t the first time the queen’s style has been praised.
Last year, Vogue magazine named her as one of the most glamorous women in the world.
