Denmark’s prince heads to Olympics

Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik arrived in Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games yesterday (04.08.08).

The prince will attend the opening ceremony of the games, and will then complete other activities linked to the event which are yet to be confirmed.

The Olympic Games hold a special place in Prince Frederik’s heart as he met his wife – Princess Mary – at the 2000 event in Sydney.

The prince recently revealed the pair got to know each other by going on short trips around Australia, where Mary is from, where he always cooked for his sweetheart.

He revealed last week: “We went for long walks along the beach, prepared good food – or rather I did because Mary isn’t that good at it – so we were able to really get to know each other.”

“It was all laughing and talking and gradually opening up for one another. Just being there with each other.”

The couple married in 2004 and have two children, two-year-old Christian and Isabella, 15 months.
