The couple arrived in the Australian city with their children Christian and Isabella after visiting Mary’s home state of Tasmania to spend time with her family.

Mary and Frederik are due to attend a dinner at the National Gallery of Victoria tonight (29.08.08) to launch a campaign by children’s welfare organisation The Alannah and Madeline Foundation to help tackle child safety issues on the internet. Mary has been the international patron of the charity since 2004.

The evening meal will also be attended by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Premier of Victoria John Brumby and child bullying experts Dr Michael Carr-Gregg and Professor Donna Cross.

The organisation’s chairman John Bertrand said: “With this dinner, and the people involved, we have the opportunity to make a real difference in this country. We want this campaign to open up a new world of opportunity where kids can learn and play on the internet, but also to have the knowledge to be protected.”
